Fresh Art is a 12 week creative course inspired by Bath Museums which starts in February 2024.

We offer a FREE supported creative group for people with lived experience of mild-moderate mental health challenges and enduring mental health issues.   The group provides a safe, nurturing space if you are feeling isolated or finding it hard to get out.

Through coming together, learning new skills and finding out about local heritage the group aims to support mental health and promote wellbeing.

Please note: we are not able to support people in crisis or those who require 1 to 1 support

A 12 week creative art course, meeting every Tuesday, 2-4pm in Bath Museums. A supported group, providing a safe space to play and experiment. An opportunity to discover more about local heritage, visit inspiring museums and create, connect and have fun! Please note: This is NOT a drop-in group. There are 16 places available.

  • A welcoming, fun creative group for up to 16 people
  • Meet new people, connect, make and explore museums taking inspiration from their historical collections and exhibitions
  • Meeting and creating in beautiful buildings
  • 12 sessions every Tuesday afternoon
  • FREE to attend
  • Facilitated by an experienced artist/facilitator with a dedicated Fresh Art worker and support worker.

Course dates: Tuesday 20 February until Tuesday 7th May

Pre-meeting on Tuesday 6 February, 2-3pm at the Holburne Museum

All sessions will be held on Tuesdays 2-4pm at the following Bath museums:-

Holburne Museum
20 + 27 Feb and 5 + 12 March

Special extra session at Beckford’ s Tower (optional)
19 March

Bath Abbey
26 March and 2 + 9 + 16 April

American Museum
23 + 30 April and 7 May.

The course is FREE to attend and art materials, hot drinks and light refreshments are provided.

Any B&NES resident (+18 yrs) with lived experience of mild, moderate or enduring mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression and trauma-related mental health issues. Also those who struggle with social isolation or loneliness. Note: this course is not suitable for people with complex physical or mental health needs and we cannot offer one-to-one support.

Sessions will take place in different museums starting with 4 weeks at the Holburne, then moving to Bath Abbey and ending at The American Museum & Gardens. Some help with travel costs to the American Museum will be available.

YES, if you are…

  • Ready and able to commit to attend on a regular, weekly basis.
  • Able to attend without a support worker (although they are welcome to accompany you for the first session)
  • Interested in opportunities to be creative and develop new skills (no experience necessary)
  • Interested in exploring local museums and historical objects and place
