Discover Museums: Supported Mentoring
A gentle, supportive introduction to museums, creativity and volunteering.
Discover Museums is a 6-week supported mentoring programme based at the The Holburne Museum.
It’s designed for anyone with an interest in museums and creativity who would like to build confidence, skills and experience with one-to-one support from a trained Museum Mentor.
This programme offers a calm and encouraging way to explore new opportunities at your own pace.
What You’ll Do
Over six sessions (one a week) you will:
- Explore how the museum works behind the scenes
- Learn about volunteering opportunities
- Develop your own creative project
- Meet weekly with your dedicated Museum Mentor
- Receive support from a Project Artist
- Have the opportunity to meet a Curator
- Share your work with family and friends at a special celebration event
The programme is supportive, practical and designed to help you grow in confidence.
Key Information
📍 Location: The Holburne Museum, Bath
🗓 Next start date: September 2026
⏳ Commitment: 2 hours per week for 6 weeks (at a regular time agreed with your mentor)
👥 Places available: Approximately 10
Commitment to all six sessions is essential.
Who Is This Programme For?
We welcome applications from people who:
- Have experienced mild to moderate mental health challenges
- Have experienced social isolation
- Would benefit from gentle, structured support
- Are interested in museums, creativity or volunteering
We accept:
- Self-referrals
- Referrals from support workers or other professionals
