The Posnett Gallery on the first floor is a treasure trove displaying many of the objects which William Holburne collected during his lifetime and proudly displayed in his home. They display his eclectic tastes, from miniature paintings, gems and cameos, to ceramics and silver spoons (which were a particular favourite of his).
Highlights include Holburne’s handwritten passport tracking his Grand Tour around Europe, and drawers packed with miniature objects for visitors to explore.
The gallery also includes a fine selection of paintings by Flemish masters including Pieter Bredughel the Younger.
