The Fletcher Gallery on the Mezzanine presents a rich array of decorative objects from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Visitors can discover insights into Georgian Bath through silhouette portraits, card games and fans which were popular with tourists flocking to the city to take the waters, while fine porcelain tea sets and delicate crystal glassware illustrate their drinking habits.

Particular highlights include a collection of Meissen figurines, a handwritten letter from the artist Gainsborough, and The Witcombe Cabinet, an exquisite decorative English cabinet dating from about 1697.

We also present an important display exploring the legacy of slavery in the Holburne family tree through a Day Book from the Ball family plantation in Barbados.
