Things to see for free this summer

If you’re looking for free things to do with the kids in Bath this summer, pop along to The Holburne Museum. Anyone is welcome to visit our Café, Shop and gardens without a ticket, and we offer a range of ways to explore the wider Museum for free.

Kids go free

18s and under are always free at Bath’s first art museum. There are discovery drawers to explore and a free Family Animal audio trail exploring highlights from our historic collection of decorative arts.

Free crafts for mini makers

On the ground floor, our Space to Make table provides engaging activities for children and families, inspired by the museum’s latest exhibitions and unique collection. Activities are self-led, ideal for budding creatives or mini makers to enjoy! Available during museum opening hours on the ground floor, no tickets required.

Explore our hidden treasures

If you’re popping to the loos on the lower ground floor, don’t miss our Collection Display area in the corridor. Displaying over 200 objects from ancient Egyptian carvings to Georgian treasures, it’s a great insight to some of the hidden treasures in our collection, without needing a ticket.

Wednesday Afternoons
Anyone can explore our Collection galleries* for free between 3-5pm on Wednesdays (last admission 4.30pm). This offers a great opportunity to explore the Museum, or cool off on a hot afternoon in the city. No booking required, just turn up on the day.
*Temporary exhibitions are excluded

Space to run around
The Holburne is surrounded by green space, and there’s a brilliant playground in nearby Sydney Gardens, ideal for letting off steam after exploring the museum.
