Margaret Roper Remembered

Home, Press

It is terribly sad to learn of Margaret Roper’s passing away. The Holburne owes a tremendous debt to Margaret and the entire Roper family. They supported every initiative the Museum put their way – from sponsoring Xa Sturgis in the Bath Half marathon to buying dinner tickets to transformational gifts to our learning programme and endowment fund. Margaret also gave a great deal of time to the Holburne and was very keen to learn about the Collection, and I know she was particularly delighted with the Holburne’s Silver: Light and Shade exhibition. In fact it was for this exhibition that the family donated a special silver gift – the Duchess of Norfolk’s seventeenth century toilet set – which is now a great asset to our Collection.

Margaret will be very much missed by everyone at the Holburne without whom the Museum would not be what it is today.
