It was with great sadness that we heard of the death this week of Mary Holbrook, Curator of The Holburne from 1967 to 1977. Under her leadership many of the seeds of the modern Holburne were sown, including the staging of ambitious exhibitions, the campaigning for an extension to provide more adequate space for the collection, and the provision of a refreshment room for visitors. We join her other friends and family in celebrating her achievements at the Museum and, afterwards, as one of the country’s leading cheesemakers.
