The Holburne is delighted to present Candace Bahouth: Dogs, Birds and Candlesticks, a temporary installation in the Holburne Café windows showcasing the Candelabras series by Candace Bahouth.
Known for her joyful and highly decorative creations, Candace Bahouth has spent decades transforming every day and discarded objects into extraordinary works of art. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, domestic life and the decorative arts, her work combines colour, texture and imagination in equal measure.
Based in Somerset, Bahouth first gained recognition as a tapestry weaver before becoming known for her intricate mosaics, needlepoint works and decorative objects. Her work is celebrated for its exuberance, craftsmanship and sense of playfulness.
Dogs, Birds and Candlesticks brings together a colourful selection of works inspired by some of the artist’s favourite subjects. Featuring beloved animals, decorative objects and richly detailed designs, the installation highlights Bahouth’s unique ability to find beauty in the everyday and transform familiar objects into something magical.
The display offers visitors to the Holburne Café a chance to discover Bahouth’s unmistakable style up close, where intricate detail, humour and creativity combine to create works that are both enchanting and uplifting.
