It is the Holburne’s pleasure to host a fundraising event in partnership with Jade Parfitt and Alice Temperley to support the local charity Bath Welcomes Refugees.
* THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT – DONATIONS STILL WELCOME*
Bath Welcomes Refugees currently supports about 200 families and people in the Bath area, of whom half are children. At present, the community is primarily from Syria and Afghanistan. We welcome both asylum seekers (those awaiting process to refugee status) and refugees, with everything for their homes from bedding, furniture, kitchen appliances, toys and books, which come from donations from the local Bath community. We renovate and plant out the home’s gardens with donated or purchased plants. We run after school clubs, tutor groups (with students from the University of Bath) have an employability officer who helps refugees look for work experience, we organize social events and outings and have a vast team of language tutors.
It’s an amazing organization for the support we can give those who have had to flee conflict, and for the strong sense of community it builds among the volunteers. We are always looking for more people to get involved, and of course donations to support what is, unfortunately, a growing need. If people want to get involved, please get in touch or register (for free) as a member via the website.
