A snuff box in the shape of a delicate Regency shoe, c.1770

Snuff boxes became popular ‘fancy goods’ in the Regency period and came in a wide variety of designs which could cost hundreds or even thousands of pounds. This snuff box, in the form of a fashionable shoe, was probably made for a lady. Queen Charlotte was known for frequently using snuff herself, gaining the nickname ‘Old Snuffy’ by her children!
