Join the Royal School of Needlework and explore the embroidered wonders of the Holburne’s collection of historic embroidery. Enjoy a tour of the museum’s treasures, then learn from an expert Royal School of Needlework tutor to create your own beautiful motif.

This experience class will focus on a beautiful bird and flower motif taken from The Holburne’s 17th century ‘Charity beneath an arch’ embroidery panel. Seated under a bower, the figure of Charity holds a flaming heart in one hand and a martyrs’ palm in the other. The two palaces that flank the figure may represent the coming together of two houses, as in a betrothal or marriage.
