We are delighted to present our exhibition programme for the year ahead:
SPRING SEASON
Don McCullin: Broken Beauty
Until 4 May 2026
The Holburne is delighted to present an exhibition of work by one of the most celebrated photographers and photojournalists of our time. Known for dramatic black-and-white photographs with subjects spanning conflict, humanitarian crises and post-war Britain, as well as landscape, portrait, and still-life, this exhibition brings together some of the most iconic images from Mc Cullin’s seven-decade career, and focuses on a group of recent images of Roman sculptures that have not previously been shown in the UK.
Zandra Rhodes: A Life in Print
Until 10 May 2026
This exhibition showcases a spectacular array of fashion legend Dame Zandra Rhodes’ vibrant screen-printed garments from the 1960s, 70s and 80s. Displayed as complete ensembles on dynamically posed vintage Adel Rootstein mannequins, the outfits are arranged into ‘hero print’ sections, each one telling the story of a Zandra Rhodes signature print and how Rhodes has translated them into her iconic garments and textile designs.
SUMMER SEASON
Beyond Impressionism: Printmaking from Manet to Picasso
23 May – 13 September
Exploring the resurgence of printmaking from the mid-19th century onwards, this exhibition will feature prints by key artists of the Post-Impressionist movement including Édouard Manet, Pierre Bonnard, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Pablo Picasso, highlighting their exceptional contributions to the medium of printmaking. It will examine how artists experimented with a wide range of print-making processes and techniques, and explore the proliferation of original artworks, reproductions and commercial posters during this formative period.
Glenn Brown in Bath: Arrows of Desire
16 May – 6 September
Having studied at Bath School of Art and Design in 1988, Brown is back in Bath, bringing his own twist on the Holburne’s collection. Interspersed between historic works in our collection of decorative arts, Brown’s interventions will introduce the uncanny, the excessive, and the unsettling into spaces usually associated with refinement and order. This tension makes the familiar unfamiliar, sharpening our attention to both the historical artworks and Brown’s contemporary practice.
AUTUMN SEASON
Ancient Landscape, Modern Times: Eric Ravilious and the Artists of the Chalk Downs
2 October 2026 – 10 January 2027
Exploring the relationship between a group of modern British artists and the chalklands of southern England, Ancient Landscapes will feature works by Ravilious, Paul Nash and William Nicholson who were inspired by archaeological discoveries at sites including Avebury and Maiden Castle. This exhibition investigates the extraordinary collision of ancient and modern, idea and place in the early twentieth-century. We are delighted to be working with art historian and curator James Russell, who is the leading authority in this area.
Richard Slee: Sunlit Uplands and Withdrawing Rooms
25 September 2026 – January 2027
The Holburne is proud to present one of Britain’s most important contemporary ceramic artists, Richard Slee. Spanning 50 years of his oeuvre, the exhibition brings together two bodies of work: Sunlit Uplands and Withdrawing Rooms, spread through a number of galleries at the Museum. Having immersed himself in the methods of 18th-century porcelain producers such as Wedgwood, Slee’s handcrafted forms are renowned for their finesse, yet his output is anything but traditional.
Further information on these exhibitions will be available on the website shortly.
