Ticket prices from September 2025

We will be increasing our ticket pricing from September, for the first time since 2018.

Chris Stephens, Director of the Holburne, explains:
“Over the past eight years, the Museum has kept its prices at the same level despite the significant impact of the Covid pandemic, followed by enormous increases in costs, notably of running the building, transporting the art works for our exhibitions and, most recently, of staffing. It is no longer sustainable to keep our prices artificially low and, as we open two new galleries, we need to make some adjustments.

“As an independent charity without any core public subsidy, we are entirely dependent on income from ticket sales, memberships and donations to maintain the museum and run our incredible programme of exhibitions, workshops and events. Our income also helps us preserve our historic building and to work with young people and some of the most vulnerable adults in our community. By increasing our ticket prices in line with inflation, we can help to ensure our long-term sustainability.”

To help ensure that the ticket price is not a barrier for those on low income, we are introducing £2 concession tickets for anyone in receipt of Universal Credit or Pension Credit.

Our new prices, effective from 10 September 2025, will be:

Full price (inc Gift Aid) £16.50
Concessions £8
Universal and Pension Credit £2

We continue to offer opportunities for people to view the museum at little or no cost:

  • Friday Up Lates: 5-9pm
On the last Friday of every month, visit our collection galleries for free
Discounted entry to our temporary exhibitions (£8)
  • Wednesday afternoons: 3-5pm
Anyone can visit our collection galleries for free on Wednesday afternoons.
  • October half term: Free for families
Up to two adults can enter for free with their children this October, and enjoy a spooky trail around the Museum. More details coming soon!

Bath’s first art museum, the Holburne is home to over 10,000 historic objects, one of the most important displays of British portraiture in the 18th century, and now, one of the world’s leading collections of Renaissance treasures. We present an ambitious programme of eight temporary exhibitions each year, bringing great art of all periods to Bath, and setting the art of the past in dialogue with contemporary practice in exciting ways.

We are an independent charity. Every ticket bought, donation or membership purchased means we can continue to protect and conserve our historic collections, maintain our beautiful building, keep sharing our amazing resources with education groups, and host world-class exhibitions. Thank you for your ongoing support.
