Join guest curator Lucy Whitaker for an evening of discovery and exploration of marriage portraiture in the Renaissance.
The social and political implications of wedlock, its rituals and ceremonies, and the way these aspects interacted with the fine and decorative arts, will be underpinned by an ultimately elusive and current question: how to convey deep affection between two people?
Lucy Whitaker is former Senior Curator of Paintings at The Royal Collection and previously Curator of Christ Church Picture Gallery in Oxford and Research Assistant at the National Gallery.
