People Make Museums
- This event has passed.
People bring stories, memories, lived experience and ways of seeing which constantly reinvigorate and challenge museums and their collections. It is people that make museums relevant.
You can book in advance here, or you can also just purchase tickets on arrival at the Museum.
The sculptures in this exhibition aim to capture some of these complex, personal moments of connection; the fleeting conversations, sudden revelations, unspoken thoughts, sensations and feelings evoked by museum spaces and objects.
These are the experiences which shape our relationships with museums and art galleries – and in turn shape and inform what museums are and can be.
Showcasing over 20 sculptural pieces selected by a panel of colleagues from the Arts, Health and Museum sectors these artworks have been specially made for this exhibition. Contributors range from those who have participated in Bath Museums’ partnership Pathways to Wellbeing creative groups as well as museum staff, volunteers, professional artists and creative facilitators who are part of this growing creative community.

Museums care for their collections but they also care about people.
This cross-sector event will bring together museums, arts organisations and mental health professionals to talk about how care is manifested in museums. With a focus on creativity and therapeutic spaces we’ll examine good practice, share learning and hear from people who have participated in ‘heritage and health’ programmes .
Come to be inspired and supported, build networks and grab some practical ideas!
