Capture the beauty of nature in this one-day workshop with botanical artist, Julia Trickey. You will be introduced to the techniques and processes used to create delicate and detailed botanical portraits. Starting with simple line drawings you will be encouraged to focus on the form and detail of seasonal plants, before learning how to depict these in graphite, pen and ink as well as white pencil on black paper. We will draw inspiration from a range of contemporary botanical artists.
Suitable for beginners; more experienced artists may bring their own project if preferred. All materials provided, please bring something to carry your work home in.
Award-winning artist Julia Trickey creates glowing watercolours and drawings that depict the beauty of nature. She is particularly drawn to subjects that are less than perfect such as autumn leaves, seed heads and fading flowers.
Exhibiting regularly, Julia has been awarded four RHS gold medals amongst many other awards. Her work is held in private collections worldwide including the RHS Lindley Library, the Chelsea Physic Garden archives, the Shirley Sherwood collection and the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, Pittsburgh. In 2014 her botanical watercolours could be seen on Royal Mail Post & Go British Flora stamps.
