The Holburne Alive & Kicking!

Home, Press

The Holburne Museum is currently closed for a development project of restoration and extension, but as its support for Bath City Youth Football Club under 12s team shows, it is very much alive and kicking.

During this exciting period of redevelopment the Museum has had to close its doors to the public, however, its education department based in the Gardner’s Lodge in Sydney Gardens, has extended its offer of art activities for all ages.

Families are invited to join in the forthcoming Lantern Procession, now in its sixth year, on Thursday 4 December. The Holburne is grateful to Emery’s, Bath’s local builders, who have this year supported the event so that the Museum can continue to offer free lantern-making workshops and free lantern kits to collect and make at home.

Monday 24 to Friday 28 November
10.30am to 12noon Toddlers’ Lantern Workshops FREE, but must be booked T: 01225 820829 (9.30am to 12.30pm)

Families are also invited to collect lantern making kits from the Lodge, which have all the materials and instructions needed to make lanterns at home. (Weekdays 9.30am to 4.30pm Mon 24 Nov to Wed 3 Dec)

Everyone is invited to bring their lanterns to the front lawn of the Holburne Museum on Thursday 4th December at 4.15pm to sing carols, win prizes for the best lanterns and parade along Great Pulteney Street to the Abbey and the Christmas Market. (Children need to be accompanied by an adult for the workshops and the procession).
