Light to Light has been designed specifically for the Holburne by lighting designer and artist Patrick Woodroffe. The Museum Garden will host a spectacular display of LED lights of varying brightness and colour to create a rich and layered bed of light that ripples and dances to a sound track compiled and created by English composer Matt Clifford.

Light to Light

Over the last forty years Patrick Woodroffe has produced lighting designs for an extraordinary collection of people including ABBA, Lady Gaga, Take That, The Rolling Stones, The Three Tenors, and the London Symphony Orchestra as well as special events including the opening and closing ceremonies of the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. He has also created many important architectural lighting schemes, including the gardens at Highgrove House and many galleries worldwide.

Matt Clifford has worked in many genres of music since he was composing music for BBC documentaries while studying Drama at University. At 21, he was flown to Hollywood to write the score for cult horror flick The Return of The Living Dead. Then, a career as a keyboard player saw him recording and touring the world with bands as varied as Yes and The Rolling Stones. His relationship with Mick Jagger as co-writer and producer has endured for twenty years, but he has also written scores for the West End stage (One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest) and ballet (The Red Shoes, Darcey Bussell's swansong).

Matt is in demand as one of the premier composers worldwide in the sports arena. He has written music for UEFA since 2003 (e.g. the UEFA Cup theme, the SuperCup theme, the current new arrangement of the Champions League anthem, opening ceremony music for Andrea Bocelli, Tinchy Stryder and Jonas Kaufmann) and also composed the Official Broadcast music for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He has just returned from playing on the Rolling Stones "50 and Counting" tour and composing the music for "The Shawshank Redemption" at the Edinburgh Festival.

The stage this winter is the Holburne Museum's garden. Put on your ‘silent' headphones and immerse yourself in a performance of colour, light and sound.
